TPF Toolkit Debugger u2013 Reference Breakpoint

TPFUG_Req_Number: V08019S
ORIGIN DATE: April 4, 2008
REQUIREMENT ABSTRACT

Provide a new type of Breakpoint that will stop on instructions based on Reference.

REQUIREMENT DESCRIPTION

Provide a Reference Breakpoint that gives the TPF Toolkit Debugger the ability to stop a traced entry when it's about to execute an instruction that:

- references a certain core address.
- references a certain core address that contains a specific (user input) value.
- modifies a certain core address.
- modifies a certain core address to be a specific (user input) value.

Note: The base core address being referenced can be from a user input core address, or the contents of a user input general register.

SOLUTION CONSIDERATIONS

When creating the Reference Breakpoint, the TPF Toolkit Debugger user should have the option to enter:

- a starting core address along with a range.
- a general register along with a starting and ending displacement where the register contents will be used for the base core address.

When inputting a value to compare against, the TPF Toolkit Debugger user should have the option of entering the value in either Hex or Character.
