GEO-494 (RABO Bank) GDPS should suspend mirroring after failing Hyperswap Resync

Requirement Number and Title: GEO-494 (RABO Bank) GDPS should suspend mirroring after failing Hyperswap Resync
Homework Assigned: No
Requirement Category: GDPS/PPRC
Current Status: Intial
Closed Status:
Session:
Requirement Value Category: System Management - OperationsContinuous Availability / Continuous OperationsDisaster Recovery
Product Affected: GDPS AutomationHardware - PPRC
Problem Description: After doing a Hyperswap Resync affecting 4 LCU's the establish path in the reverse direction failed for 1 LCU. We ended up with 3 LCU's in duplex mode and 1 in simplex mode (on both sides devices in simplex). This creates an inconsitent situation at the secondary site and put us into serious problems when a the primary site fails. In that case we have no consistent set anymore to run from!!! We agree that a link establishment failure is a should not occur situation but in our point of view the main function of GDPS is to safeguard us from the potential severe consequences that could arise from such a situation. We find that if GDPS sees that 1 LCU is failing it should suspend all the other LCU's before resuming I/O on the then primary site (the site after the hyperswap). Note that this involved OEM disk.

After giving the request a comprehensive review, we have determined that we cannot include it as a candidate in an upcoming release because it won?t be pursued within our planning cycle.
