Since executing a pointer checker on a broken database is highly recommended by IBM IMS, it would be beneficial for IBM IMS to supply a pointer checker utility along with all the other IMS DB utilities already supplied with IBM IMS.

Since IBM IMS chose to make the IMS Catalog a HALDB DB, it would be beneficial - for DB integrity purposes - to have a pointer check utility available for use (@ no additional cost) similar to other IMS DB utilities like the Database Image Copy ut...

IMS Asynchronous Lock Duplexing

Like DB2 "asynchronous CF duplexing", do you have any plan to implement similar functionality on IMS for IMS locking and VSAM RLS locking. Synchronized duplexing is too expensive in terms of CPU consumption.

Better Replication Solution needed to move incremental changes to IDAA and CP4D

Asked this of Mario Perotti on a recent Webex and he suggested submitting an Idea, so here we are. Customers that have data in an IMS database are using it within IMS for transactional purposes, but need to move it elsewhere for Analytics. We curr...

Support for wildcard in DDL DROP for IMS Databases and PSBs

We refresh and rebuild test environment from production where we cleanup everything in test and build using the components from production by changing component names. So we could use DDL DROP with wildcard where we can erase the test definitions ...

Store Copy Book Comments with IMS Catalog import

When importing PL/I structures, we need to be able to preserve the Comments. Ideally with the import process. The comments should be stored with the metadata in the IMS Catalog and recreated with a future DCLGEN utility for the IMS Catalog.

IMS Asynchronous Lock Duplexing

With DB2 12, we can activate the Asynchronous Lock Duplexing. We need the same functionality for IMS.

DCLGEN for the IMS Catalog

We need to be able to generate PL/I definitions/includes with the IMS Catalog as the source and the leading system/basis. It should be possible to integrate that type of generation with the software build process.

Increase the Maximum Size of the IRLM Lock Entries from Its Current Maximum of 1024 MB lock entries.

Currently we have a large number of false contentions within our IMS data sharing group, and we have increased the LTE value to 256 which causes us to reach the Maximum size of 1024mb.(256 * 4 Byte Entry = 1024mb) We need to be able to increase th...

Default value type setting in IMS Catalog for Explorer inserts

Modify the IMS Catalog to have default values for field statements, that is: spaces, low values, zeros, zoned, etc. This would then be used by IMS Explorer Suite for inserts when a field value is not specified. For Example on this "Insert into MS3...

How to estimate the size of these pools in a mACB environment where there's no ACBLIB, DBDLIB nor PSBLIB.

Problem Description: In an ACBLIB environment, ACBGEN output shows the estimated size of DMB, PSB, PSBW, and EPCB pools indicated by DFS0940I, DFS0941I, DFS0943I and DFS0589I. messages like as follows. < ACBGEN output example > ... DFS0940I ...
