Generated URIMAP Name in Bundle Merged

As you want to add an URIMAP to a bündle you have to give the Urimap a Name. This is not really nice, because if you have an Generation process you have to make the Name unique. In Webservices the urimap Name is generated with a $xxxx Number.

It would be great to have here the same mechanism and make the Urimap Name optional.

My wish would be that it would be possible for all resources to not enter unique names in bundles and that cics itselve give them an unique id $xxxx instead.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Transaction Processing
    Product - CICS Transaction Server

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
    Brand - WebSphere
    Product family - Transaction Processing
    Product - CICS Transaction Server

During the CAF Peter suggested that a private URIMAP, perhaps delivered under Platform Versioning (104206) or similar, would satisfy this requirement. An explicit requirement for private URIMAP similar to support private File in CICS Application (93267) would also be useful to gauge wider demand and help prioritise.

Comment 9: So is your problem that each URIMAP in an application has to have a unique name rather than the fact you currently need to rename a URIMAP when introducing a new version of an application? The latter would certainly be solved by private URIMAP resources. However, resources are public within an application so you cannot have 2 PROGRAM resources in different CICS bundles with the same name.

My main problem is, that I have to Name the Urimap and have to give a unique Name to every one.

Your idea also sounds interesting, but then there would still be the Limitation, like on programs, that a program only can exist in one version of multiple bündles and I still would have to find a Name.

Can you give me please an example of the flow of the higest availabe Version you mentioned, to make it easier to catch your thaughts.

    Cheers Peter

Perhaps a better solution would be for a URIMAP in an application to be private like PROGRAM or LIBRARY in V5.2. That way you can still name it but it wouldn't fail to install if the name clashed with another version. As with PROGRAM entry points work would flow to the highest AVAILABLE version.
