HATS parsing of data in services response for index variables

When HATS returns data in a service response for an indexed variable, it returns the data as a single string with all of the data concatenated together. This is difficult to consume and not at all what is expected in a service (either SOAP or REST).
We get a response like this:
<cost> 20.30 23.34 34.40</cost>

when they would really like the service to look like this:
<cost>
<value1>20.30</value1>
<value2>23.34<value2>
<value3>34.40<value3>
</cost>

    This is not possible to implement with the current HATS design.
    Index variables are available only for Global Variables (which are nothing but session variables). And there is no session concept in REST services. Therefore, this is not applicable for the services.

    If you have a clearer use case, we can try to suggest a workaround (possible custom solution) to achieve the same, without index/global variables.

    REJECTing the RFE.
