Allow HOD the ability to choose a JAVA JRE on the client

In the Deployment Wizard, a new configuration entry could be created, which is accessible by the user on the session properties dialog box. For example, "Java Location". A browse button could also be supplied to simplify the entry of the JAVA JRE path.

This feature would allow multiple JRE's to be present on the client PC, and not affect the functionality of HOD.

Today, the majority of our customer calls are regarding the JRE to be used, since IBM only supports older versions of JAVA, (and generally not the most recent offered by Oracle).

Another alternative, is to offer a Citrix type solution, where the HOD requirements are transparent to HOD users. The citrix solution is limited for us, due to the number of concurrent customers we may have at 1 time and the associated cost. But, maybe a cloud type solution hosted by IBM?

    The suggested implementation is not possible: "In the Deployment Wizard, a new configuration entry could be created, which is accessible by the user on the session properties dialog box."

    This is because:
    1. To show session properties, HOD would have already used the JRE
    2. Session properties are specific to a particular connection

    In addition, HOD has implemented changes to ensure that HOD refresh packs declare support for the most current versions of Java. Keeping up with HOD refresh packs should minimize the Java issues. Are you keeping current with HOD and still experiencing this issue?
