To enhance the IBM IMS Fast Path Solution Pack FPA RELOAD and INITIALIZE functions, we propose the following enhancements:

  • Automated ADS Allocation Size Calculation: Implement a mechanism to automatically calculate the optimal ADS allocation size based on the DBD definition. This would involve internally defining an output ADS before executing the RELOAD or INITIALIZE function.
  • SDEP Consideration:
    • If no SDEP is defined, the system should calculate the optimal ADS allocation size solely based on the DBD definition.
    • If an SDEP is defined, the system should prompt the user to provide additional information, such as the percentage of the ADS that the SDEP should occupy or the required number of CIs. Based on this input, the system should calculate the optimal ADS allocation size.
