rightsizing OLDS BUFNO when BUFSTOR=64

IMS V12 introduced BUFSTOR=64 with following value propositions:
reduced ECSA consumption
reduced CPU consumption due to less TLB misses in DAT .
Currently the way to that goals is paved with some obstacles.
APAR PM50656 disabled the feature 'round up BUFNO to the MB boundary ' which was shown in early IMS V12 presentations as well as redbook
SG24-8071-00 p.190 .
APAR PH14059 introduced OCO module DFSFDLJ0 (unterstandable that the 'how to supress sensitive data' is itself a sensitive theme) and made
the calculation schema vanish in the haze for a normal IMS user .
IMS SystemDefinitionReference has no hints regarding rightsizing BUFNO for BUFSTOR=64 in order to minimize storage waste in the
allocated 1MB fixed large page(s) for log buffers.
So the IMS user experience for that theme currently is bad.
Finding the next BUFNO that increments field LCDSEGS in LCD from 1 to 2 (and so on) for a given OLDS blksize only with a series of
IMS restarts
IMS dumps and/or /DIA SNAP BLOCK(LCD) commands and/or RMF STORM reports
is trial and error guesswork.
We would appreciate one or more IMS message(s) at runtime , either unconditional(preferred) or on demand, that recommends a proper,
not space wasting, BUFNO to be used at next IMS start with the same footprint of allocated 1MB pages that the current IMS instance running
has.
IBMs recommendation in our salesforce case 4514291 was to open this RFE.

    Hi,

Thank you for your interest in keeping IMS a vital and successful product. Software development has continuously evolved during IMS’s lifetime, and so has IMS itself. We have kept pace with, adopted, and implemented many industry standard best practices within our organization, including Continuous Delivery, Design Thinking, and Agile.

When choosing new features to add from the list of requirements in our backlog, we assess which will bring the most value to as many clients as possible and prioritize those.

After reviewing this request for enhancement and assessing its potential value, our decision is to add this item to our backlog. Items in our backlog are expected to be delivered within the next 18 months. We reserve the right to re-prioritize our backlog items as new requests come in. This helps ensure that we are constantly focused on providing the best value to all of our clients.

    Have a great day!
