This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Z Software products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

When RLA=Y (PH33024) is set there is an opportunity to enhance IMS/Db2 connection pooling (DSNMIN20) . Right now IMS connection pooling modules DFSESAT0 and DFSESCT0 hand over PSTUSID as EEVPUSID to Db2 . Db2 uses this userid as first part of the 16 bytes key that is used for pooling up to 50 threads per MPP (see fields WALAID and WALP_POOL_KEY in Db2 control block WAL that is mapped in SDSNIVPD(DSNWCBDZ) and can be located as CDE name WAL in the MPP) . If the logic of PH33024 is extended to DFSESAT0/DFSESCT0 and EEVPUSID is set to the userid of the dep. region ACEE for RLA=Y then the first 8 bytes of WALP_POOL_KEY ( i.e. WALP_USER_ID) becomes fixed per MPP.
Business justification
Proposed code change together with RLA=Y reduces the pooling thread footprint of a single MPP i.e. the contribution to overall thread growth in Db2 that pooling brings along.
On the one hand more plans per MPP can be pooled.
On the other hand more MPPs can exploit connection pooling with the same overall thread footprint in Db2 compared to as-is-world .
Of course the milage of each IMS installation may vary according to the variety in their PSTUSIDs. For FI having more than 50 ISC-LTERMS per IMS is the main reason for proposed code change being a goodie.
