Creation of a data set growth metric suitable for identifying abnormal data set level growth.

Customer's are often challenged with identifying culprit data sets and applications when storage group growth exceeds expectations. Often subject storage groups can be several TB's large and identifying excessive growth at the dataset level cannot be easily accomplished without significant overhead. OMEGAMON XE For Storage should maintain a data set level growth metric which is caluclated and refreshed on the scan interval which can be used to guage data set growth over time. This metric can then be used to quickly identify fast growing data sets as well as compared to a target growth value to identify datasets growing faster than anticipated. Variations of the metric can be used to show percentage growth over time as well as actual growth over time.
