IBM presented plans to enhance ECBRM and HP has a local mod that we would like included in the base product as an enhancement.
In the File Rate monitor we have it set up to exit ecb's with settings of FILE TIME 40 mils and FILE RATE 256. We only want to kill ecb's that are a threat to the system so we have an extra check for IOB's available. We had issues with 6DF dumps back in 4.1 and used the old Resource Policeman with this extra check to stop the 6DF's. We carried forward the check to ECBRM as attached. There is a check for SWB's as well but its the IOB check that has saved us from running out of IOB's. For example GETFC/FILEC loops. We cannot set the GETF or FILE thresholds low enough to catch this problem.
Another example of IOB depletion is a VFA read/DASD write loop.
