Add filtering to Statistic Reports

I believe it would be useful to add filters to both List and Summary Statistics report. For example, report on a given transaction when looking at transaction stats. Or only report transactions that have an ATTACH>0. For file stats it could be the FILE name.

    Hi there,

If you don’t want to specify the applid in the Alert, you can always specify the desired APPLID(s) in the report definition or CICSPA command when you run the report as illustrated in the screenshots attached. NOTE: Specifying APPPLID(s) in report will filter all records based on the specified applids, and therefore override APPLID(s) specified in the Alert. Unless of course the Alert applids are within the report applids.

I hope this response addresses your requirement, but please don’t hesitate to raise any other questions or issues.

    Many thanks, Louisa

    RE:

    • As you can see in the example below, the user can optionally specify APPLID value, which will restrict the application of the alert/filter to the specified APPLID(s). Another extremely powerful feature of Alerts, is that they provide a Formula by which a value can be derived based on multiple fields and a threshold applied to it. This feature is not available in Performance Selection Criteria. Finally, the user simply specifies the Alert Definition in the Statistics List or Summary report, together with a Form that specifies the Program statistics they wish to report.

This is OK but I still feel that this needs a better way of filtering . I do not want to go and create/amend a rule every time I run a report.

Hi Em, thanks for getting back to us. It's agreed that the definition for Statistic Alerts is narrow, and this has some history which has resulted in Alerts being dual functions for alerting and selection criteria depending on the context of their use.

All I want to do is run a batch report and say show me the program statistics for program XYX* where the load count is > 0.” & “I do not want to have to go and create XYZ* one week and then another one for program ABC* the next.”

    • Alert definitions allow the user to easily relate a particular Resource that field belongs to, e.g., program XYX* can have a load count of >0, while program ABC* load count of >10, etc, see example below. Programs XYX* and ABC* can have the same or different thresholds. Note: “Res” value optional and if not specified the alert/filter will be applied to all programs.

I cannot even select only programs in a given region/ applid

I hope this clarifies the issue, and we're happy to meet on a call to discuss this if you wish.

For performance reports you have selection criteria - why not have a similar thins for statistics. I do not want to have to go and create XYZ* one week and then another one for program ABC* the next.

Hi , I am sorry but I have to disagree. i want to filter on program name or transaction name . Alerts should be use for what the words means an Alert there is something wrong. All I want to do is run a batch report and say show me the program statistics for program XYX* where the load count is > 0. if you show me how I can do that I would be happy. I cannot even select only programs in a given region/ applid . Cheers , Em by the way can i add attachments to this idea

    Hi there,

Thank you for raising your idea, the development team would like more information. The use case provided appears to be already addressed by existing CICS PA Statistics Alert function, i.e. Statistics Alerts provide selection criteria (filtering) ability for Statistics List and Summary reports, as described here https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/cics-pa/5.4.0?topic=dialog-statistics-alert-reporting.

To aid in determining if CICS PA already supports the use case, the following definitions (attached) illustrate how CICS PA provide the filtering for the examples in the Idea. If they do not, please provide more details and examples of the type of filtering required.

    Many thanks,
