EXEC CICS ENQ should conform to CICS standards

All the assembler EXEC CICS commands will generate a LENGTH(=AL2(L'FROM_AREA)) for you if you leave the length off, and the area is not a register such as: FROM(0(,R5)) And in every case I have seen where the length doesn't get supplied automatically by the translator, a warning or error message is generated indicating the lack of the LENGTH() parm. However in the case of EXEC CICS ENQ neither of these 2 methods is used, which causes enqueue to not match and two programs run at the exact same time !

This can be easily demonstrated using CECI to do the enqueues from 2 different terminals leaving off the length parm

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Transaction Processing
    Product - CICS Transaction Server

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
    Brand - WebSphere
    Product family - Transaction Processing
    Product - CICS Transaction Server

Even if the RFE is declined:
Can it be a possibility to generate a warning message at compile time, which states that the LENGTH parameter is missing ? This does not cause any incompatibilities and raises the developers attention.

This is a resubmit of RFE 38382. In that RFE, it was explained that whether a length is specified or not alters the behaviour of the command.

If length is not specified the enqueue is on the address of the resource variable. If a length is specified the enqueue is on the resource named within the variable.

If length was generated as suggested by this RFE it would cause compatibility problems. We have no plans to do this and so this RFE is being rejected.
