RELATED IDEAS

Modify CICS translator to dot qualify translator generated code.

Development group is attempting to implement/enforce new coding standards. One of these includes the use of the NOLAXQUAL PL/I directive. However, the CICS translator does not dot qualify internally generated variables. This causes the PL/I compile to fail on these variables.

    We have assessed this requirement. We have no current plans for this to be implemented and so this requirement is being declined at this point. The requirement will be kept in the RFE system and might be reassessed in the future. You also have an opportunity to resubmit in twelve months time if you wish it to be reconsidered then.

    Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
    Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Transaction Processing
    Product - CICS Transaction Server

    For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:

    Additional comments from the customer, regarding the efforts to have the translator access the parms in the compiler RULES option:

    May I suggest a different approach? Why not just have the translator, whether integrated or not, always generate dot qualified code. Then you don't even need to look for the NOLAXQUAL parameter.
