XML PARSE INTO structure

Exchanging XML request/reply documents between JAVA and COBOL in CICS can leverage well defined xml schemas that can be generated from XML GENERATE sample instances.

XML GENERATE works well for Response structure from COBOL to JAVA, but XML PARSE does not populate the COBOL structure received by the request from Java. A XML PARSE INTO data-item would be a useful extension.

For these constrained Use cases, when there is low probability of validation errors, it would be desirable to PARSE INTO a COBOL structure.

Note that we are using CICS CONTAINERS so there should be no reference to COMMAREA.

    Hi,

There has been no reply since 2016. Hence canceling this RFE.

Feel free to open a new one if you have answers to your latest question.

    Thanks.

Hi, thank you for opening this RFE. We would like to know if JSON parse is acceptable instead?

Support for XPATH and XQUERY in XML PARSE to populate Cobol data item, Cobol array or Cobol structure would be usefull.
