Allow ODBM synchronous data capture using third party exits

Today we are using the Precisely SQD product for IMS data capture replication. It captures changes and writes them to its own log stream (Synchronously, no IMS log records), then processes them after that (Asynchronously). They get control at the time of the DLI call, before the commit. We have been replicating transaction and BMP workload for years, with high volumes.

We have a new requirement – data capture for ODBM workload. The path is JDBC thru ICON to ODBM. This is new workload that we need to capture. DB2 is not used in this case.

A possible solution is to use additional infrastructure to process x’99’ log records. We would prefer not to build new infrastructure, and the IMS log processing is asynchronous.

We are requesting an enhancement to allow the ODBM workload processing to be captured by the SQD replication exits.

Please also reference IBM case TS012656779.

Thank you for your interest in keeping IMS a vital and successful product. Software development has continuously evolved during IMS's lifetime, and so has IMS itself. We have kept pace with, adopted, and implemented many industry standard best practices within our organization, including Continuous Delivery, Design Thinking, and Agile. When choosing new features to add from the list of requirements in our backlog, we assess which will bring the most value to as many clients as possible and prioritize those.

After reviewing this request for enhancement and assessing its potential value, our decision is to add this item (IMSDB-I-258) to our backlog. Items in our backlog are expected to be delivered within the next 18-24 months. We reserve the right to re-prioritize our backlog items as new requests come in. This helps ensure that we are constantly focused on providing the best value to all of our clients.

    Have a great day!
