"false" U0240

z/OS only allows one STIMER per task (TCB) so when an application program is setting his STIMER it negates the STIMER that IMS has already set and this could lead to an U0240 abend which is not a real one because the proclim has not been reached.

IMS should use STIMERM to be sure that an application won't set another STIMER instead

    Hi Christophe Keyling,

Thank you for your interest in keeping IMS a vital and successful product. Software development has continuously evolved during IMS's lifetime, and so has IMS itself. We have kept pace with, adopted, and implemented many industry standard best practices within our organization, including Continuous Delivery, Design Thinking, and Agile.

When choosing new features to add from the list of requirements in our backlog, we assess which will bring the most value to as many clients as possible and prioritize those.

At this time, after reviewing this request for enhancement and assessing its potential value, we have decided to reject it. The reason we are rejecting RFE ID 42658 is because it is not in our product direction to rewrite the simpler time keeping algorithm with a more complex one that will not benefit many customers since the user's application can be coded to use STIMERM. The use of STIMER by applications will remain as a documented restriction in the section PROCLIM= of the TRANSACT macro. (link to TRANSACT macro: https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/SSEPH2_13.1.0/com.ibm.ims13.doc.sdg/ims_transact_macro.htm)

If you have any further question or clarification, don't hesitate to add addition comments or email us.

    Thank you.
