Full interoperability between Java and EGL called programs (pass DB connection to and fro)

We would like to treat EGL called programs as ordinary POJOs. This means that we would like to have an interface to a called program that can provide all necessary resources, such as Database transaction ,... to the called program from an external Java environment. If an EGL called program is called many times from a Java program, it should be possible to build up the environment once, and pass it a a parameter, so that a transaction (database or XA) can be shared. The program, should, unlike a main program, have both input and output parameters.

In addition, we would like to have access to the EGL runtime environment from Java programs that are called from EGL. This will allow Java programs to share transactions with EGL programs.

The feature has been implemented in 8.0.1.4, and that it will also be rolled up to the next maintenance update for 8.5

We agree that it would be a valuable enhancement to allow control over the database connect from the Java program, in order to control commits and rollbacks from the EGL program, though our implementation might not be exactly what is described in this request.

We will partner with this customer to develop a good design, for implementation in a future release or fix pack. We do not currently have a target for delivery.
