Description.
User sees what they describe as very poor Java Performance on z9 - Generated with RBD 7.5

The performance problems concern the JAVA-code on the z9: the performance of batch-jobs is about 10 times slower than in the Cobol.
Tests on z10 machines produce a gain of up to 1,5 or only 2 times slower job runtime.

User description:
working on a project to convert COBOL to EGL (Java).
The conversion and java code generation is working but we have a very poor performance on z9 compared to the java program on PC or to the original COBOL program.

Runtimes of the java program are:
============================
Cobol on z9: ~ 20 sec
Win: 1:11:7810
z/OS on z10: 1:35:2083
z/OS on z9 : 4:10.1448
z/OS on second z9: 4:56.1552

The programs use mostly mbchar, not char and for Java generation, the mbchar type is slower than char, especially on EBCDIC systems like the z9.

    Fix pack 7.5.1.5 contains several performance improvements which will improve runtime speed on all Java platforms. Programs should be regenerated in order to take full advantage of these enhancements.
