enable deactivation of CheckNumericOverflow for Java genearation

Dear Sir or Madam,
we are an IBM premium partner. We are developing migration tools for migrating from RPG or Cobol to EGL. The idea behind migrating from Cobol to EGL and generating back to Cobol or to Java is, that once the application is running in EGL, the developer can benefit from all the incredible opportunities of the new EGL world, especially regarding the Web programming and the user interface development.

With this RFE we would like to ask for enabling the build descriptor option checkNumericOverflow = no for Java generation as well. Currently this option is valid for Cobol generation only.

As most of the migrated Cobol- and RPG- programs are designed allready to prevent from or handle numeric overflow, it's not needed to code this again. But as it's currently not possible to prevent Java generation from generating code to check numeric overflow, the generated programs become to large and to inefficient.
kind regards
Andreas Gronert

This request is consistent with various Java runtime performance enhancements we are investigating, for implementation in future V8 fix packs.
