z/OS Connect to stop dropping leading zeros from the response of a transaction with a COBOL copybook

z/OS Connect is dropping leading zeros from the response of a transaction with a COBOL copybook

When the transaction is tested manually (message placed on the queue in IMS), the following is produced

Input Message Format: LKD47 M 033031010101011400 LK M357300 SOLTERMINULLOPER NN N 0031L1567099290007

Output Message Format: LKD47 M 033031010101011400 LK M357300 SOLTERMINULLOPER NN A N 003790000000000000P67099290007 09299077

However, what we get is from z/OS Connect cuts off the leading zero. Key thing to note here is that the CUSTNUM field is defined as DISPLAY DECIMAL (PIC 9) meaning that the leading zeros should be conserved and sent back to the client, which z/OS Connect does not do.

    Numeric values in JSON do not have leading zeros. If the requirement is to display it as a String padded with zeros this can be achieved in the API Mappings in the z/OS Connect Designer using the JSONata functions.

    Example command -> $pad($string(fieldName), "-9", "0")
