Extend the Application Class concept to other applicable resource types, such as Application Groups and Monitor Resources.

Q. Why is it useful?
A. Reduces time and effort fulfilling "customer" (e.g. Support and Operation staff) requests.

Q. Who would benefit from it?
A. Both automation administrators and their customers:

  • Administrators benefit by quickly inheriting predefined values in the related Classes.

  • Customers benefit from consistent and predictable behavior of their automation resources.

Q; How should it work?
A. The same as, or very similar to, Application Instances and Application Classes:

  • A resource Class is defined with common values for the related resource type

  • An instance inherits the values from the Class, ensuring consistent and predictable definitions.

Thanks for submitting this Idea. After discussion we see the need of easing the work for administrators in order to maintain policies. The class concept has been introduced in the ISPF based customization dialog and also makes use of Netview features in the runtime.

Because of the complexity to introduce a similar concept for more Entry Types - we refrain from doing this. We will keep this requirement for a potential replacement of a new policy editing component in the future.
