CICSplex Systems Management (CPSM) needs to respond better to LPAR workload

Need a new capability in CPSM to allow customers to manage WLM importance 1 workloads to a percentage of the LPAR capacity. Importance 1 workloads, such as CICS, perform best when they represent less than 95% of the workload on an LPAR. In our case, we begin to see CICS degradation when importance 1 work exceeds 85-90% of the LPAR. Today, CPSM requires work to measurably suffer before taking action. This new capability would allow CPSM to act sooner to maintain good service levels consistently.

CPSM dynamic routing decisions today are based on response time, or internal CICS health metrics only, and do not consider other available information. An external metric such as “importance 1 work greater than nn% of LPAR” would allow customers a way to route dynamically routable work to favor LPARs with importance 1 white space.

We want the “system” to take action automatically to avoid problems with importance 1 work in a sysplex, rather than require customers to take manual intervention to address this.

We have assessed this requirement. We have no current plans for this to be implemented and so this requirement is being declined at this point. The requirement will be kept in the RFE system and might be reassessed in the future. You also have an opportunity to resubmit in twelve months time if you wish it to be reconsidered then.
