Transactions that have been purged will still process messages but need to be started after a recycle in SQ systems.

The company uses IMS with shared queues. Whenever a transaction is purged, a BMP will still process the messages queued to it, but after the system is restarted, the same BMP will not process it. Starting the transaction again will resume the processing. IMS L2 support found that one of the IMS modules will set a bit so the plex can register interest in the transaction; however, when the transaction is stopped, that check is skipped so interest in the transaction is not registered. A warm or emergency start will carry over the stopped status, so the inform bit will not be set.

    Hi,

    Thank you for your interest in keeping IMS a vital and successful product. Software development has continuously evolved during IMS’s lifetime, and so has IMS itself. We have kept pace with, adopted, and implemented many industry standard best practices within our organization, including Continuous Delivery, Design Thinking, and Agile.

    When choosing new features to add from the list of requirements in our backlog, we assess which will bring the most value to as many clients as possible and prioritize those.

    After reviewing this request for enhancement and assessing its potential value, our decision is address this issue within APAR PH36088. We believe this is a more appropriate action for this item given the details provided.
