IMS Transactions and Large Attachments

More and more clinical artifacts, e.g. XRays, MRIs, and genetic info, etc. are being digitized. Today customers use a manual type of process to coordinate files for claims. It is desirable to have transactional integrity support for claim processing on z/OS with IMS transactions. These image files, stored as attachments in a repository, are immutable; and attachments would be used to make business decisions by medical professionals. It is critical for IMS to support large attachments for both inbound and outbound transactional requests with or without Web services requests. There is no need to log these large attachments in IMS log records, but it is important to maintain the integrity of the attachments.

    Thank you for submitting this IMS enhancement request.
    After giving the request a comprehensive review, we have determined that we cannot include it as a candidate in an upcoming release because it is not consistent with the product direction. As a consequence we have, unfortunately, rejected this request.

    We appreciate your input to the IMS development team. We also hope that you will continue to submit ideas for improvements as customer feedback is a key component to shaping the future direction of IMS.
