This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Z Software products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Our JSF application architecture defines two types of pages:
a) Main pages
b) Pop-ups
The architecture requires that main-page bean state be saved in session across invocation of a pop-up, but not when transitioning to another main page. This cannot be accomplished in the current EGL implementation without having to explicitly save, restore, and clear page handler variables.
Our study of EGL runtime makes us believe that this architecture can be implemented at low cost by providing a user exit to dynamically modify the 'cancelOnPageTransition' setting for a page based on the target page. The scenario would be:
a) Specify following handler attributes for main pages: { scope=session, cancelOnPageTransition=yes }
b) On each page transition, use a modified user exit to reset cancelOnPageTransition as required based on the target page
Implementation :
Here is an example of a user exit that would meet the requirement. It should be invoked at each point at which the cancelOnPageTransition attribute determines whether a page bean should be removed from session data.
package com.ibm.javart.resources;
/**
* User exit - change cancelOnPageTransition setting based on page transition target
*
*/
public class PageTransitionExit {
static public boolean getCancelOnPageTransition (boolean cancelOnPageTransition, String targetViewId, String lastRenderedViewId) {
return ( cancelOnPageTransition ) ;
}
}

IBM Business Developer is a continuous delivery offering, and aims to satisfy the needs of a rapidly evolving market segment. Product strategy evolves and requirements are continuously evaluated against that strategy. This RFE has recently been reappraised against the wider product strategy and does not fall into IBMs delivery plans for the next 12 month. Whilst this RFE might be valid and we might look to deliver longer term, this RFE is being rejected at this time.
This RFE is more than a decade old. It might not be relevant now. Please create a new RFE if this requirement is not yet addressed in the product and it still exists.
Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
Product family - Programming Languages
Product - Business Developer
For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
Brand - Rational
Product family - Design & development
Product - Business Developer
We are still working out the best design to address this requirement. We are now looking at adding a J2EELib function.
We do not currently have a time frame for implementing this function
What is the tentative / planned date for next release that includes this feature?
IBM plans to implement a user exit to provide this functionality in the next release.
This request is under consideration and will be review by our software development team.
