TPF Support for Transactional Execution Facility (TX)

Transactional Execution facility is a hardware feature first made available on the EC12 mainframe released in 2012 and has been supported on zOS 2.1 since 2013.
The feature enables a more efficient and easier way to updating core resident data in a mutiple engine environment without the need to define a LOCKC area or burn CPU cycles in a Compare Swap loop.

To use the support a programmer codes TBEGINC and TEND macros as follows:

TBEGINC
L R2,@@MNTPNR
LA R2,1(,R14)
ST R2,@@MNTPNR
TEND

Whilst most TPF shops now have the required EC12 or z13 hardware the the actual zTPF operating system needs updating to activate this TX hardware support and that is the purpose of this RFE.

IBM does not expect to implement this requirement in the foreseeable future.
