Allow for global custom JSONata functions that can be used across any mapping in the API.

Customer exchanges data between remote systems (UTF-8) and mainframe back-end (EBCDIC) that contains special characters which need to be translated to a specific back-end encoding and vice versa. The translation needs to take place while the data is in UTF-8 format. Currently we could use JSONata by defining the translation of each special character on each impacted field but as they have more than 100 special characters defined this is not a sustainable solution. A global JSONata function would enable the customer to define the translation once and use it multiple times on the impacted fields in the requests/responses.

Thank you for raising this Idea.

Whilst this requirement is valid, based on our current plans and priorities it is unlikely that this could be implemented in the next 12 months. Consequently, this requirement is not under consideration at this point. The requirement will be kept in our system, however, and may be reassessed in the future. You also have an opportunity to resubmit in twelve months' time if you wish it to be reconsidered then.
