I notice that the ZONECHECK option initially introduced with Enterprise COBOL V5R2, and deprecated in COBOL V6, made its appearance in COBOL V4R2.
The ZONECHECK option is not described in the Cobol V4R2 reference manuals, either in PDF format or in the online documentation.
If ZONECHECK is deprecated in Enterprise COBOL V6 for the benefit of the NUMCHECK option, why did you introduce it into enterprise COBOL V4R2 and not the NUMCHECK option?

Hi, we introduced ZONECHECK before we had NUMCHECK, so we couldn't port NUMCHECK at that time.
ZONECHECK is described in the APAR that added it in V4.2:
